LEARNING AGREEMENT

1. THE CHOSEN SITE & RESEARCH TOPIC/ISSUES YOU WISH TO STUDY
    Main chosen site       :  Public health care building in Malaysia – rural clinic.

    Issues                       :  Current public health care in Malaysia do not inspire the people. It is a space
                                         to fill in the user for example patient, doctors, nurses, visitors and etc.  
                                    :    The unwelcoming façade and square boxes space of current health care
                                         building do not motivate the user to think positively while getting well from
                                         illness.
                                    :    Private health care in Malaysia is having more patient percentage than                                          public health care where the public health care in Malaysia is much more
                                         cheaper than private health care.

    Aim & objective         :  To identify, study and understand the problems that facing by public health
                                         care in Malaysia.
                                      :  To analyses the human experience in the public health care building by
                                         using human senses.
                                      :  To study the basic criteria of a good health care building and propose new
                                         ideas that able to add value in public health care building by considering
                                         local context.

  Title                            :  Revitalization of Malaysia’s public health care become an inspire space with
                                        considering the users experience and human five senses.


2. OUTLINE OF REPORT AND HOW YOU WISH TO CARRY OUT YOUR OBJECTIVES


Introduction:
i) Introduction of the function of health care.
ii) Typology of health care in Malaysia.
iii) User of health care premise and their points of views on health care design. Studies of their
     psychology, wishes, living routine.
iv) Problems that public health care in Malaysia facing.

First paragraph:
i) Analysis of current public health care buildings and design. Analyze by using senses of the
  dwellers experience.
  [Currently the public health care it is just a place to fill in the user which do not inspire the user.]
  The 5 senses as below:
  - Haptic (touch)
  - Views (sight)
  - Thermal comfort
  - Hearing
  - Smell
  Dweller will experience the space with all their sensory. In the same time this is one of the things that
  will draw the dweller interest on the space or make the dwellers remember the place.
  For example when we smell the taste of medicine we will understand it is a health care place.

ii) Analysis synthesis

Second paragraph:
i) Interviews is carry out to few groups of users/dwellers as below.
     - Patients and families
     - Doctors
     - Nurse
     - Management workers
     - Cleaner
ii) Survey form given to the public
iii) Summarize the interview and survey on the feedbacks on the impact or human experience of
    current public health care on the user.

Third paragraph:
i) The good example of health care center globally and locally.
   - give examples and also analyze with 5 senses as mention about.
   - Explain how their design benefits the user by considering the local context?

ii) Site visit to selected good example of health care center. Recording the experiences and also carry
   out quick interviews with the dwellers.


Fourth paragraph:
i) Basic requirements of a health care center
   - Space
     ~ Type of space needed
     ~ Size
     ~ Conditions
  - Lights
     ~ Openings
     ~ Shadow
   - Ventilation
     ~ Openings and space flow
     ~ Active and passive ventilation

ii) Additional criteria to upgrade the basic health care
    - Acoustic design (excellent acoustics plays key role in ensuring the patient can be completely at
                                  ease and ensure of proper rest.)
    - Impact resistance design (high traffic area with rolling beds and trolley passing)
    - Thermal insulation design (To ensure the patient and professionals stay in the optimal temperature)
    - Wet area design (Wet area like shower and kitchen need to over extremely high level of humanity)
    - Fire protection wall
    - Indoor air quality design (Avoid to use formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds can
      affect our health)

* Why and how of the ideas with beneficiary the users and the building itself.
* How it is implement.
* The implementation will explain and analysis based on the human 5 sensory.

Fifth paragraph:
i) Potential spaces or activities for health care buildings.
     - Swimming pool
     - Library
     - Gym room
     - Theater

* How these spaces will add value to the public health care buildings?
* Explain by considering human experience and 5 sensory.

Conclusion:
Summaries the paragraph and provide a conclusion.
